Today’s Charter January 7th 2023 caught this Squirrelly Sailfish. Literally on the FIRST bait out.. Winter Time in the Atlantic is a frenzy of Activity swirling with Life. Sea Bird, Turtles, Ballyhoo all blend together to bring fishing in Key West during the winter to a fever Pitch.
Fishing Sails in Key West Is most effective on Live baits, deployed on a Kite. In my opinion no better way to catch a Sailfish Key West Sailfish The Bait (generally live Ballyhoo or Goggle eyes) is deployed through a rigger clip as the kite is flown up and away. This technique is definitely for a more advanced Fisherman.
Another Great way to Catch a Sailfish is by Trolling. The advantage to trolling is the ability to cover large area’s in search of Sails. Also a great way to fill the Fish Box w Great Winter time Eats!!
Tomorrow we have a six hour trip as well. It should be Great as the Winds are predicted to be out of the East at 10-15 Mike’s per hour.

You will be looking to fish off Key West to catch the king of the billfish with us, 34′ Crusader Sportfish. The Crusader is rigged up with live bait tanks, 4 rods with spinning reels and 6 rods with topwater reels on kites and 4 rods with reels in case you want to troll for sailfish or try baiting them. We have a few different kinds of baits that work well depending on where you are fishing. I will customize your trip based on what type of fishing you are doing as well as length of time you want to stay out there!
